There are people who know a lot about tea.
And then there are Lou and Sofia.
After being a tea buyer and taster at Tetley's, Lou co-founded Teapigs, and grew it into a global brand along with Sofia.
Between them, they have spent years thinking about what goes into a cup of tea: where the tea comes from, how it is grown, what happens to it before it reaches us and, most importantly, whether it actually tastes good.
So why, after all those years in tea, start again with SPILL?
The everyday cup.
They buy really good tea, directly from Rwanda. They know where it comes from. They care how it tastes. They care about the people who grow it.
We don't have to.
We just put the kettle on.
And that, more than anything, is what we like about SPILL.
Lou and Sofia have done the thinking about tea so that the person drinking it doesn't need to.
We feel much the same about interiors.
We've spent nearly 30 years thinking about what makes a room feel good to be in.
And the things we add for scent, light and atmosphere are part of the whole experience.
Which is how we ended up making a candle.
You shouldn't have to understand why one object, scent or material works in a room and another doesn't.
Anymore than you need to know about tea supply chains to enjoy a bangingly good everyday cup.
Someone else can do the sourcing.
The tasting.
The smelling.
The rejecting.
You get to enjoy what's left.
A good cup of tea.
A candle lit at the end of the day.
Tiny things, really.
But everyday life is mostly made up of tiny things.
We think they're worth getting right.
